Animal experimentation is not the most accurate testing, just because some medicine and cosmetic product pass an animal test it doesn’t mean it has a beneficial effect on humans. Animal tests have evolved in many ways throughout history in negative and positive ways. A strong negative being that we are different from animals but not just animals we are also different from each other. There are many arguments that we humans wouldn’t be where we are today if it wasn’t for reliance on animal testing. However, because of all the improvement in technology we have started to lean away from some animal practices. Which is excellent because some of the cruel testing has started to die down, some studies showed that testing isn’t always as†¦show more content†¦The fact that these experiments would have no benefit to humans certainly qualifies them as excessive, therefore abusive. Possibly the ultimate example of the cruelty of animal experimentation metho ds is that of the decompression chamber. This research was abusive because it caused excessive suffering. When the research has already been documented, even unethically, there is absolutely no excuse to repeat it for curiosity’s sake. As the saying goes, two wrongs do not make a right. Different methods of testing cosmetics have been found for example, PETA explained that cosmetic manufactures, â€Å"Now can drop chemicals onto cornea- like 3-D tissue produced from human cells† (PETA). This method is now used to replace the use rabbit eyes for testing. Insufficient regulation about treatment of animals in testing allows for abusive handling. According to Thomas Gale, who formerly worked for Elliot Spindel, a medical researcher in the field of the effects of consumption of nicotine, pregnant monkeys were â€Å"subjected to multiple surgeries to implant nicotine pumps in their backs and their babies are cut out of their wombs to dissect their lungs† (Gale). If that isn’t bad enough, Gale continued by saying that he â€Å"‘witnessed some of the mothers post-surgery with the same signs of clinical depression that women suffer from after going through the emotional tragedy of losing a stillborn baby† (Gale).

The Battle of Fredricksburg In the next pages I will explain why Fredericksburg was such a tragedy. Why it was a big morale booster for the South, but a disappointment for the North? It all started in the year 1862. General George McCellen currently controls the army of the Potomac. When it was determined that McCellen was a bad general, in December of 1862 he was replaced with General Ambrose Burnside. Within a week, Burnside decided on a campaign to the Southern capitol, Richmond. He told his plans to Lincoln and Lincoln approved, but told Burnside the only way for a win was to move quickly. Burnside split his group into three grand divisions, each with two corps. Burnside, Sumner, and Hooker were on one side of the railroad with 10 regiments and on the other side of the railroad was General Franklin with eight regiments. Burnside also had one regiment of engineers to build the pontoons to cross the river. (See Map 1) While Burnside had been waiting for two weeks he saw how the Confederates were positioned; even though the Confederates had the advantage he still believed he could win. The night before Burnside was going to start building the pontoons, he sent a message to Lincoln saying, â€Å"We hope to succeed.† So, on the night of Wednesday, December 10, 1862, the engineers started to build the pontoons. However, another general from the South, General Will Barkslade, was right above the area where the engineers were and whenever a soldier went to check on the progress of the pontoons, the Confederates would shoot at them. Now that everything was off schedule, Burnside knew that the Confederate general was getting ready to attack. So, Burnside ordered Brigadier General Henry to take 147 heavy caliber guns and shoot at the Confederates at Stafford Heights. The shooting lasted for an hour. During that hour, 70 solid shots were fired a minute and that firing destroyed the town of Fredericksburg instead of the Confederates. Freedom and equality were not alike as freedom was great news, but equality was just the beginning of a terrible problem that all Black people had to face. In this essay, I am going to explain why freedom was nothing like equality, and the changes the Black people had to face during this unfair time. After the Black people were released as prisoners, equality became a problem in the US. Due to that, thousands of other people joined in and realised they could over power the Black people’s rights. Black children were not allowed to be in the same school as White children because the White children’s mothers refused to send their children to the same school as Black children. Although this happened, the cost of keeping two school systems (one for Whites/one for Blacks) was so expensive that neither system could work properly. The Black children also had to suffer with poor equipment and a poor education, while White children had the opposite. Also, the Whites took away the Black’s rights e. g. the Black people could not go in the same public facilities such as: swimming pools, shops, and toilets etc. as the Whites. This was something called ‘dehumanising’ them. The whites gave Blacks their freedom to slavery but they didn’t let them have their rights and let them be normal people just like the Whites. The White people even started a huge protesting group where only Whites were allowed to join. This group was called the Klu Klux Klan. The people in this group would wear long white cloaks-head to toe-and they would protest against the idea of letting Blacks have their rights. The Klu Klux Klan was a very powerful group that made huge protests that would make differences. Even small children joined in with their parents, and there were even countries where only Klu Klux Klan members could enter. Because after years of racism, Blacks had a very poor image of themselves. Some desperately wanted to be White, so they used chemicals to lighten the skin but this could lead to disfigurement, or even death. But there was still hope for some that all this would change: â€Å"Racism is still with us.
